Sudha Murthy (also spelled Murty; née Kulkarni on 19 August 1950) is an Indian social worker and writer in the Kannada and English languages. Murthy began her professional career as a computer scientist and engineer. Sudha Murthy was born in Shiggaon in Karnataka, India. The daughter of a famous surgeon Dr. R.H. Kulkarni, Murthy and her siblings were raised by her parents and maternal grandparents.
